Dynamic Psychological Services

People are unique and complex. However, they are never merely a collection of symptoms that result in a “diagnosis.” Too often, such an approach is standard practice in mental health where a reductionistic and pathologizing approach is taken to the individual seeking mental health services. I view the individuals I work with as having made the best decisions and choices they could given the circumstances they faced at the moment in time that negatively impacted them. I believe such an understanding is crucial to helping people overcome the adversity they carry with them. It is from that stance that I engaged in my therapeutic work.

Michael T. Mosko, Psy.D.,ABPP

I am a Licensed Psychologist in the Commonwealths of Pennsylvania and Virginia. As of late 2020, I practiced under the Pennsylvania license for the past 14 years in various settings that included inpatient psychiatric emergency hospital, outpatient patient group practices, as well as forensic settings. Prior to obtaining my license to practice psychology, I was a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Therapeutic Modality

My therapeutic modality is an experiential dynamic psychotherapy that is based on modifications to traditional psychoanalytic theory. Specifically, such an approach combines elements of Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (I-STDP) and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). Experiential dynamic psychotherapy as a whole is an empirically tested model of therapy. It is designed to produce rapid symptom reduction secondary to: aiding an individual in identifying, exploring and processing one’s complex feelings towards people and events in one’s life (both past and present); managing one’s defenses; as well as regulating one’s anxiety. Through such an approach, my experience has been that people tend to feel better, make better decisions for themselves, have improved interpersonal interactions and have an improved overall sense of self.
